A typical mission is during our winter (when the dry season in Belize is perfect). The length is eight to ten days, with time for visiting our Belizean friends, church, and sightseeing.

Every Project Smile Mission team is composed of a carefully selected team of volunteers:

• Team leader, usually a dentist
• Chaplain
• Dentists
• Hygienists
• Dental Assistants
• Teacher(s)
• Technician/repairman
• Clinic coordinator

Teams are selected six months to a year in advance, often with extra persons with special talents. The playground, computer lab and lunchroom are examples.

Scholarships are available for certain situations to cover expenses.

A typical team is approximately a dozen adults who pay their own expenses.

We stay in Belizean-owned accommodations and walk most places in Belize City.

After several days of seeing patients, we usually relax at a nearby island and enjoy swimming, snorkeling, boating and local meals.
